Re: migration from FTM 2012 for Windows to MAC - Family Tree ...

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I have a family tree (.FTW) from a old windows version of FTM. I bought the FTM "For Mac 2", and I'm having trouble getting the media over. It omits about 95% of the media files. I posted over here if anyone wants to read:

The method the knowledge base says to do is to step the FTW forward with FTM 2005 SE, then that file format should be easily read by the new Mac version. But then most media files don't make it over.

I'm wondering if maybe I should get the 2011 or 2012 PC version and try that file migration utility. I also don't mind copying over the media files manually, but I can't get at them! They're packed inside the FTW. Does the newer PC versions of FTM have the media files on the side in their own directory (like the Mac version does)?

Edit: I tried the method suggested of making a new tree with one person and merging in the .FTW file from Windows. That method also fails to bring over the media properly.
